So what's your favorite show on broadway or west end right now (excluding Wicked)? It's hard to say for me. I'd either go with legally blonde or spring awakening, they're both awesome
Sweeney Todd Beauty and the Beast RENT The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee Oliver! The Lion King The Little Mermaid Peter Pan You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown
Because I like lists, I'll list the musicals I've seen from the best to the worst (everyone of these is not going in West End/Broadway right now, though). All West End unless stated otherwise.
The great ones: #1 - Les Misérables (I've seen it twice!) #2 - Cats (Finnish version, seen it twice too!) #3 - The Phanton of the Opera
The good ones: #4 - Wicked (I'm still waiting to see it again without a sick relative in another country. I heard about that just before the show... When the mood's better, the show's better too, I bet.) #5 - Mamma Mia! (The tour production, stopping by at Helsinki. Seen it twice. The first time was great, and it was also the first live musical I've seen. The second time, about and year later, was worse. When the top news of the country is all about some maniac killing a big bunch of young people you're not too happy... I've got some bad luck with the timing, it seems, since the night of the first Finnish school shootings I was watching The Barber of Seville and then there's the MM! and Wicked things...) #6 - Spring Awakening (Finnish version) #7 - Billy Elliot #8 - The Lion King
The bad ones: #9 - The Who's Tommy (Finnish version. Too loud, couldn't hear the words, ugly staging.) #10 - Grease (the current West End one. Ugh.)
And a plus feature! Waiting to see: - Oliver! (Finnish version) Maybe going to see: - Mary Poppins (Finnish version. I've never seen the film, and some of the songs I've heard sound plain annoying, but then again it's going to be a big and nice-looking production, so I don't know yet... Has anyone here seen it, and if, is it worth seeing?)
