It opens in April sometime. I'm kinda torn about it. It could be good or it could be crap. There is a lot of stuff by ALW that I just don't care for, ie. Cats.

yea, i'm torn as well..i loved phantom of the opera but i ALW is smart and i dont really think he would make a horrible sequel but it might not do so because of how well the first one did

I have a feeling it opens/opened this month in London.

Based on the songs I've heard the music seems to be ok but weirdly varied in style, with the traditional musical songs and rock opera style pieces in the same show. But maybe that works? I might have to buy the album, I'm so curious about it.

The plot sounds awful, however.

I agree with the plot. Its terrible.

Almost immediatly after I posted this, my friend sent me a link to some of the music. I like it, but its a bit repetative of his earlier works (which makes sense, because that is what ALW does).

I need to get the soundtrack too. My friend's been raving about one song in particular, others she said were so-so.

A little off track...has anyone heard of ALW's crazy plan to rewrite songs for The Wizard of Oz simply because he doesn't like the way it stands now? I think he's starting to go a little nuts... He indicated that he wanted to give the Witch a song or two. Hello! That's what Wicked's for!
