Historic and Socialcritic statement...

so have you noticed the backround of the story?
As I'm German I directly combined it with the Nationalsocialism and Hitler. I would like to discuss with you. WHat do you think about it?

There's definately a bunch of political statements in the play. I definately related it to Hitler as well. But it can also be a statement on any government. Lots of different governments lie to their people and oppress certain people. I mean Hitler is definately an obvious example, but it could also relate to racial oppression in America and segregation. There are lots and lots of different examples that could relate to the political statements in the story. The book has waaaaaay more political statements in it.

The original book, The Wizard of Oz, was a statement about the politic state of the pre-depression era United States. There is quite obviously a lot that can be compared to Hitler and Nazi Germany but I'm curious if that was intentional? Or if Gregory Maguire was more interested in outlining a more worldly view of racial/gender/sexaul supression? Though there was a tragic genocide against them the Jews weren't the only group to be oppressed. What about pre-Thireeth Amendment African-Americans? What about pre-US Suffrage women? Or the gays and mentally handicapped under Hiteler's reign? What about gays toaday?

I know that Hitler was a sick and powerful force but he wasn't the only person in history to cause hurt due to creed.

I see alot of America@s (don't take offence any americans. You are all cool) politics. The whole idea of decpetion, and glamoursing yourslef to gain power, as well as lying to cover up your mistakes

Doctor Dillamond, to me at least, represents the Jews during Hitler's reign, or even the Animals (later animals) as a whole.
