I have never read the book! I really wanna though, I have heard that it is much much darker then the musical
Yes it is quite a bit darker than the musical. The stories really aren't very similar but the book is still very good. It just deals with a lot of "mature" themes. There's a scene where Elphaba comits "murder." There are a few sex scenes, though not graphic at all, there are a few more death scenes, and the looming insanity about the last few chapters. It IS a very good book though.
I havnt read it either and my goodness it does sound a whole lot darker then the happy musical ... well the musical isnt that happy either, but elphie?? Murder??
YES THIS IS INSANELY LONG! I REALLY DIG DEEP INTO THE CHARACTERS!!!
I would have to say Nessa. Sure, she can be all crazy, play the martyr and stuff but there's a heart under all of that. I can just tell by the way she acts. She just wants to fit in and maybe have her father be at least a LITTLE nicer to Elphaba. The time when she shrunk Boq's heart: NOT intentional. She wanted to win his heart but (as she said) she didn't want to kill him or anything. She basically just wants to fit in and be loved, I think that's all she ever wanted.
