How did you hear of Wicked? The novel or musical

The musical...well, my sister bought the soundtrack and I didn't want to listen to it, 'cuz it sounded like a bunch of witches...so I listened to it a month later and LOVED it!

I was in my chorus class and the teacher played the music of wicked! I loved the song popular and defying gravity so when I got home I started to find out more about it

My drama teacher in middle school would always talk to us about what new musicals were coming out and whatnot and played some songs from them and stuff. So when she played wicked I automatically loved it and bought the cd and have been obsessed ever since!

Yeah I think thats how most people hear about it, They listen to the CD or read the book... and then they find out that it is becoming a musical and then they think that they will give it a try... Thats how I found out! lol!

I first heard the soundtrack as I was flying back to Germany for the holidays (I love Emirates!) After that chance encounter with Idina's voice, I searched the every book&music-store I saw after that, until I found the novel in one of them (Bless you, MPH!), which brings me to another thing;

Does anyone have the German lyrics of "For Good" and "The Wizard and I"?

I'm not sure if I just can't find them anywhere, or if I'm just stupid.....

have you listened to the german recording yet? I really like it.
I don't have the lyrics though, and i don't speak a word of german so i can't even guess at them. lol

I haven't heard all the sounds in German, but I love the ones I've heard so far. I love both, but somehow I feel the German version sounds better....

Anyway, if you find the lyrics somewhere, please let me know...

Why don't you learn German? If you can get into it, it's really easy..... But since German is my mother-tongue, I guess it's easier for me......

lol well i'm already trilingual (english, spanish, and french). It'd be very cool to quadrilingal, lol. but i definitely don't have the time now.

I do really like wicked in german, it's so different then anything else. I'd love to hear the japanese version too.

Haha, I'm already quadrilingual (english, german, malay, chinese), only Wicked hasn't been translated into malay and chinese.......

Yes, the german version is quite unique...... Is it in french or spanish yet? I'd like to hear those too....

wow that's so cool! To bad we don't speak any of the same languages (besides english of course). What was your first language? I was born in Spain so Spanish was my first.

i don't think they have wicked in spanish or french yet. there have been rumors of it but nothing finalized. I would love if they did though, that'd be amazing.

Because of where I was born and to whom, my first language was German, so I can pronounce the lyrics (mainly Elphaba's) quite well, although now I mainly speak english, because I'm currently studying in Malaysia.

It's wierd though, even though we only have english in common, our languages are still linked- my mother is learning french, and my cousin is learning spanish! Only I'm the only one here that speaks chinese and malay.......

It would be great if they translate Wicked into more languages..... I would really love to hear it in French, or perhaps Italian! I would love to hear the various Elphabas......

I know!!! It's awesome! But is it just me, or are they taking their time in translating Wicked more than with the other musicals? I wish they'd hurry up!
