Malaysian theatre sucks. Almost none of it is worth watching.
And the students doing school dramas here suck even more. They're so unprofessional and they always change every single detail fo the story just so they like it and that it suits them, when it should be in the best interests of the audience. That's why I'm leaving the school drama team. Heck, I might even leave the school! The teachers are terrible (I can't learn a thing from most of them), and the students are so damn stuck up and selfish. They think what they do and say is right, when it has nothing to do with even the topic in question! Absolutely sickening. I'm looking for a good school to spend my last year in. One that has better students, and a better drama team.
Perhaps the international school, or maybe the England style school.............
Hooray for you.................. I'm stuck in friggin' government school, and I hate it. Most of the teachers here are terrible, and the students (previously mentioned) suck BAD. Can't wait- next year's my last. Then it's freestyle here 'till my results come back in April, and then it's goodbye Malaysia (forever!) and hello, dear sweet Germany, and perhaps a job onstage in England......
well that's good, only one year. I still got two. Hah, maybe we'll see eachother in england. Yeah my school is nice but the area surrounding it and whre i live are just about the most boring places imaginable. And no shows ever come here, shows always come to toronto which is like 7 hours away

Well, at least you have good shows there. I'd have to take a plane to see a good production.
It would be good to see you in england. It'd be nice to be with some one like me. No one here is.
And the opportunities there are better there than here - the best thing here has been "Midnight Puppet-2007," and that wasn't exactly wonderful for me either. (Then again, it was for charity....)
Midnight Puppet was a musical written by a young aspiring musician, Gan Jia Ying, two years ago. In 2007, it was brought to the stage for the second time to raise money for charity.
The story is about a spoilt little girl named Emi Griggs who has tested the patience of her three fairy godmothers. So, they decide to send her a doll for her twelfth birthday. When the clock strikes midnight, she would become the doll and the doll would become her.
After her twelfth birthday, she (the doll) becomes nice and decides to send all her toys away to an orphanage, much to the surprise of her parents and everyone else. When Emi (in the form of the doll) reaches the orphanage, she is told by the other toys there that life there is terrible, and she tries to get home, with the help of a tag-along rag doll called Linnet.
Together, they face perils such as a clan of alley cats, and are split up. Later, Emi is found by a man and his daugther, Sophie, who bring her home. She discovers there from their humble life and strong grateful attitude, that life is about much more than jewels and wealth. That night, Linnet comes back for Emi, and the two of them make for Emi's home. There they confront the doll, who does not wish to go back to being inanimate and cast aside. The doll takes Linnet hostage to make Emi let her continue to live her life. But when Emi agrees, the doll tosses Linnet out the window.
Emi screams and wakes up- it had all been a dream. But from that she had learned her lesson and would never be spoilt and arroggant again.
I played Mrs. Sweetheart, wife of the business partner of Emi parents. I had two songs onstage (The Birthday Song and The Finale, which was a collaboration of all the songs) Backstage, I sang along with the choir, because the onstage choir wasn't that big. That was the Kuala Lumpur version. In the Sabah version, I had to take over my "husband's" role of business partner, and got to be in an extra scene. (No extra singing though, although during the production of the Sabah version, I did more singing during practice to help them along, since not everyone could come along to Sabah)
Well, it was done once before, in 2006, but that was by the same people, with a few new additions (including me).......
But the rest of the drama her REALLY sucks. Whatever you do, DON'T take part in Connaught High School's drama team. Don't even speak to the others on the team - they're so STUPID. Don't even come to the school- everything and everyone here is terrible. I want to get out.
