I love it! Laura Bell Bundy is fantastic, and her speaking voice reminds me off Kristen Chenoweth and Megan Hilty put together. Her role is a bit Glindaish, that could be why. Such a fun musical with great songs, put me in a good mood when I watched it
Well one i'm a fan of Laura Bell bundy, two i love the movie, and three i loved how they decided to create a musical out of a popular movie, it is a way to get more young people involved in the world of musical theatre
i just love it. Its defiantly not a life changing, deep and meaningful musical. But it is in the end, a whole lot of fun. And sometimes thats just what I want to watch.
well one it teaches one of my favorite lessons, don't judge a person based on looks, yes they matter but they aren't the most important. And by applying yourself you can do anything
The characters in Sweeney have depth? That may be true. And it also true that all the characters in Legally Blonde are quite shallow. But I dont agree with Mari when she said Wicked and LB are both fluff. As far as character depth goes, who has more than Elphaba herself? Or even Glinda?
well i don't see fluff as a negative thing. and yeah wicked is less fluffy then legally blonde but it's still fluff in the way that most people would put big mega musicals into the fluff category.
but i mean i like legally blonde just because it's fun and it does have a message to it of not living up to a stereotype and whatnot. True it's really not that deep but it's cute and i enjoy it.
I love wicked, i wouldn't be as involved with this site if i didn't but as far as depth it's really not that uh....deep. I mean if you look at a show like sunday in the park with george or hey even sweeney todd the characters have so many different layers to them to the point that you can't really even fully understand the show without seeing it multiple times, reading the script, etc. But just because Wicked may not be as deep as sondheim or other shows like that it's still well written and it still carries across an important message. And because it's a show that's really accessible to all ages it inspires a larger fan base and attracts new fans to musical theater constantly which is always a good thing.

that may be true but i enjoy the music in legally blonde about 10x more then the music in grease or high school musical. And legally blonde is kind of inspiring in a way. just that you can live up to more then your potential. As a pretty blonde bimbo elle was destined work in fashion or whatnot for the rest of her life. But then she discovered if she worked hard she could really make a difference in someones life and prove to the world that she was more then just a pretty face. May not be your cup of tea but you can't deny that that's not a bad message to be sending out, albeit not the most original one. And i do think the music is great (if you can get past omigod you guys!) and christian borle's voice makes me quiver inside (in a good way). so yes, legally blonde is good in my book
