I usually fall asleep immediately afterwards. The only exception was when I borrowed my friend's book and stayed up until 9 in the morning finishing it.

Haha I must say Im a bit sleepy now. But train rides do that too me. I just got back a little while ago. The show was fantastic, we had really good seats. The person who played the wizard was a little annoying but we cant really help it that the old one died, poor Rob Guest. But the cast was overall amazing. We did have these annoying people sitting behind us though. There was this woman with her daughter or something who was so unbelievably annoying. The entire first act this kid was chewing gum and popping it really loudly, sounded like a friggin cement mixer. Was one of those people who never learnt to chew with her mouth shut. In the interval my friend sister and I were talking about it and I found out I wasnt the only one and it was driving them crazy too. Second act started and blow and behold here comes back the kids with a packet of chips eating them even louder! Now I know chips can be loud becuase they are crunchy anyway but this was something else. The kid didnt even just take one bite or something but did that like Bugs Bunny carrot thing and just wouldnt stop. I could see it was annoying everyone around me so in the end I gave up and thought maybe i should just say something quietly. I turned around sort of and didnt even say anything, I was just going to do the 'quiet' symbol when this mum started going crazy and being all "what is there something wrong with eating chips in a theatre now!?" and like saying this stuff quite loudly herself (like mother like daughter) considering the show was on. I didnt want to make it even worse for the people around us so I just sort of quietly said nevermind and turned back around but really. What even happened to common decency and respect for others? If people dont teach their children at a young age how to behave in situations like cinemas or theatres then they are going to grow up not knowing its wrong and have a lot of people annoyed at them. The kid was a talker to, constantly asking stupid questions (such as in act 2 when Fiyero walked out and she asked 'Who's that?")
Anyway aside from that rant (sorry about its length) I really did enjoy the show. The lighting and all set never fails to amaze me and the acting was brilliant (I finally got to see the Australian original Glinda which I loved).
Critter out.

Wicked.

And I'm so sorry you had to endure that. Who the heck eats in a theatre? Thats taboo here, and if its too rude for Americans that makes it downright unacceptable for everyone else on the planet. And gum?

Seriously, I hate people for that reason. Some are okay, most can go jump in a lake.

Glad you agree with me. This woman was practically yelling at me while the show was on and I was only trying to do a good thing for all those around us who were also being driven crazy by that child. Its obvious the child couldnt hear over her own eating as well becuase she didnt know what was going on the whole time. That was quite apparent in the idiotic questions she kept asking.

Wow that would of driven me crazy, good for you for keeping your cool, it would of taken all of my energy to not turn around and smack that kid.

I mean I really don't think you should take your kids to the theater if they can't keep quiet and behave, and this is coming from a family of 7. I saw Wicked with my little sister when she was 6 and I told her before hand how important it was to stay quiet in the theater and she did fine, and loved the show. But some kids just have no sense of decency, and as you saw that is usually the fault of the parents.

The audience at Wicked in Germany had to be the best audience I ever sat in, it was like dead silent, shocking. Audience in London and Canada are nowhere near that.

Haha Mari I did have trouble not turning around and giving the kid a smack but I had to keep telling myself its not the kids fault. Its that stupid parent for never telling her its wrong. Id love to see it in Germany, it sounds like they actually have respect for the theatre there. Of course Id have no idea what they were saying but Ive seen the show enough to understand the english translation. by the way what are programs like where you have seen it? Do they try keep the programs similar for each country or are they different?

aww sorry, I tend to dissapear from here for a couple days at a time.

The programs were not that different from what they'd be in London. Like you had to pay to get the actual book with pictures. They gave us a kind of slip of paper thing though which had the cast, understudy, and numbers. It wasn't anything fancy though.

Come see it in the US. The playbills are fairly nice, but not like the glossy booklets they sell.
